Obituary for WESTERBERG

Peter Westerberg passed away on May 29, 2007 with his family by his side. Pete was born November 25, 1945 in Turku, Finland. He moved with his family to the U.S. in 1954, where they settled on the east coast. He faithfully served this country in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring after 26 years. Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Elfrida and father, Thor. Pete will be greatly missed by his wife of 36 years, Ruth; daughters, Jennifer Herring and husband, Todd of Albuquerque; Kiersten Westerberg and husband, William Condit of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Hunter Blythe, Colin Herring, and Emma Rose Condit; sister, Dorrit Bender of Weatherby Lake, MO; nephews, Alex and Carl Bender; and niece, Kristina Hurley, all of MO; and his extended family of "Coasties". Pete was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors, "tinkering" in his garage and driving his beloved El Camino. The family would like to send a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Presbyterian Hospital's AICU for helping to make Pete's last moments peaceful. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the service and interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.
