Obituary for WHITT

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday May 20, 2007

June Elizabeth Whitt has a new home. June made her journey to Heaven on May 14, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy L. Whitt; and her daughter. Janice Cherner and husband. Elliot of Chandler, AZ. June is also survived by two grandsons of whom she was so proud of and loved so much, Timothy R. and wife, Cecelia McCants of Edgewood, NM and Michael R. and wife, Rosa McCants of Mesa, AZ. Timothy gave her six great-grandchildren, Brittany 18, Dennis 13, Michael 10, Nicholas 8, William (Billy) 7, and Dillon 7. Michael gave her four great-grandchildren, Derek 7, Tyler 7, Ashley 3, and Nathan 2. June has two surviving brothers, Glenn and wife, Pat Heise of Florida and David and wife, Roxanne Heise of Washington State. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert R. Whitt; two sisters, Doris Post and Jennette Heise; and closest cousin, William Wilhelm. June was 75 years old. She was born on July 12, 1931 in La Porte, IN to Glenn and Madiline Heise. She was raised in Indiana, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, but her heart belonged to Indiana. On June 10, 1982 June suffered a massive stroke causing her paralyses on her left side and uncontrollable pain. She never let this stop her from loving her family and friends even until the very end. June was a devoted wife, mother and friend, but her biggest joy was being "Nana" to her two grandsons, and then great-grandchildren. June was a great friend and has left many friends behind, including Dean and Nona Gay Jones of Albuquerque, NM. She will be greatly missed but think of the freedom she is now enjoying from her weak earthly body while she is soaking up Heaven and all its glory.
