Jesus Fabela Quinones, 83, of Bayard, NM, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007. He was born in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 14, 1923. Mr. Quinones worked as a miner (diamond driller) and, after retirement, for the Cobre Schools as a crossing guard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. Quinones loved to fish, to joke around, and he loved baseball as a player, a Little League coach and a Dodgers/Cubs fan. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Maria Luisa (Licha) Quinones of the family home; two daughters, Maria Elena Ortiz of Las Cruces, Maria Bertha Silva of York Valley, AZ; four sons, Jesus Quinones of Albuquerque, Dr. Luis (Nacho) Quinones of Las Cruces, Carlos Quinones of Santa Fe, David Quinones of New York City. Visitation was held Sunday, April 22, 2007 in Baca's Funeral Chapels where the Recitation of the Holy Rosary began at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 in Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street in Las Cruces. The Rite of Committal and Interment was held in Masonic Cemetery. Service arrangements were entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. Phone 527-2222
