Obituary for KINNEY

Stephen Hoyt Kinney passed away May 3, 2007 of natural causes. He was born in Socorro, NM in 1918 to Bartley and Mabel Kinney. He grew up in Albuquerque where his father started the Kinney Brick Company. Steve graduated from MIT in 1942 with a BS in geology. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in Pearl Harbor and Oakland, achieving the rank of lieutenant. He married Harriet Gadsden of Oakland, CA in 1945, and they returned to Albuquerque. In 1953, he and his family moved to Farmington, NM where he worked as a surveyor, geologist and wildcatter. In 2005, Steve and Harriet returned to Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; his three sons, Stephen, Charles, and Warren; his daughters-in-law, Leslie and Nancy; his sister, Ruth Gannaway of Albuquerque; and two grandchildren, Christopher Kinney and Erin Lovejoy Kinney. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2007 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, Albuquerque.
