Obituary for MARTIN

Dale E. Martin, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007. His last years were bittersweet with his Alzheimer's. Dale was born in Columbus, IN to Belva and Guernsey Martin, the first born of their 12 children. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1950. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julia Germaine Hoesman Martin; his daughters, Marjorie and husband, Tom Ogden, Gale and husband, David Gillen, and Faye Montoya and fiance, Anthony Parisi; grandchildren, Joshua Sanders, Thomas Ogden, Molly Gillen, and Emmy Gillen; and eight brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark; granddaughter, Heather Sanders Padilla; and three siblings. Dale retired after 22 years with the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1964-1965 and chose to retire to Albuquerque because he enjoyed the scenery and the mountains. He enjoyed working at the commissary for 30 years and made many friends there. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2007, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow with military honors at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
