Obituary for VIGIL

Flavio J. Vigil Jr. "John", 72, our loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed unto the Lord peacefully, with his family at his side, at home on Friday, April 13, 2007. He was born June 29, 1934 in San Antonio, NM and lived most of his life in Albuquerque where he worked in the family's construction business for over 50 years. He traveled the country and served briefly in the Air Force as a Radar Technician in his youth before settling in Albuquerque. John retired several years ago and spent time with his wife and family, gardening, researching the genealogy of the name Vigil, and going to the casino. He was also an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt. John was preceded in death by his father, Flavio Sr.; his mother, Gorgonia; his brothers, Robert and Lorenzo; his sister, Barbara; and his sons, Ruben, Rick, and Joseph. John is survived by his loving wife, Josie; his sons, Dr. John R. Vigil, Lorenzo, and Steven, his daughter-in-law, Jenny; his grandchildren, Melissa, Jonathon, Veronica, Marilena, Andreana, Gabriela, Valerie, Bernice, Daniel, Shenea, Gabriel, and Analicia; great grandchildren, Emily Rose, Noah, Danielle, Savannah, and Nikki. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April the 19, 2007 in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services at 2919 4th St. NW, with viewing from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Service from Pastor Chip Lesko of Calvary Chapel. The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Torrez, Dottie, Justin, and Nora of Hospice of New Mexico and the staff of Southwest Respiratory for all of their kindness and compassion.
