Obituary for DEVERS

Victor Lee DeVers, 75, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007. He was born in Topeka, KS to Milburn "Tom" and Ruth DeVers on October 24, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bernard Bruce. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Connie; sons, Mikel Lee and D. Scott; and grandchildren, Danielle and Lewis. Victor graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1949. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served with the 4925th Test Group (atomic) until his discharge in September 1954. He graduated from San Diego State University in 1956 with a BS, and then received an MA in Economics in 1962. Vic joined the Atomic Energy Commission in 1961 as a Hq. Intern and was ultimately assigned to the Albuquerque Opns. Office, where he advanced and served in numerous budget, engineering, management, and planning capacities. He retired in 1990. Vic served on many community boards including 20 years at Hogares, Family Counseling, United Way, Lions Club, 20-30 Club, Scoutmaster, Little League baseball and basketball coach. In 1986 Victor was awarded the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award and in 1991 one of the "Points of Light" Award. Vic also served as a judge at regional and state science fairs.
