Obituary for WALKER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 08, 2007

Charles "Chuck" Leslie Walker was born in Coupeville, Washington on September 10, 1945. He died at peace in his home on March 31, 2007 after a decade-long battle with Lewy Body Disease. Chuck moved with his family to New Mexico as a young child and graduated from Alamogordo High School. He played tennis for New Mexico State before transferring to UNM where he developed his lifelong adoration of the Lobos. He graduated in 1968 with his degree in pharmacy and later purchased Zody's Pharmacy and Penn Mont Pharmacy with his wife. With his entrepreneurial skills and patience, he established himself as a very successful businessman and pharmacist who was trusted and loved by his customers. Chuck was an avid tennis player, reader, story teller, and barbequer. He was most often found outdoors grooming his lawn, picnicking in the mountains, vacationing at the beach, or growing some of the best green chiles in the world. However, Chuck's favorite hobby was spending time with his three girls, daughters Tina and Melissa; and his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda. His soft sense of humor, generosity to those less fortunate, and endless love for his family will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Linda Walker; daughter and son-in-law Christina and Chris Wall, and daughter and son-in-law Melissa Walker and Sam Pulvers. He is also survived by his mother, Edna Walker; twin brother Frank Walker, sister Julie Miller, brother Dennis Walker, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Walker in 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chuck's favorite charity, the Red Cross: Mid-Rio Grande Chapter, 142 Monroe Street, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Cremation has taken place and a private service was held. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500 www.frenchmortuary.com
