Carmen Martinez, "Nanney", age 82, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in Los Alamos. Carmen was born in Anton Chico, NM and was preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Virginia Martinez, sisters, Avelina Bachicha and Angie Rivera, and brother, Antonio Martinez. She is survived by her family, Craig and Venita Chavez and their children, Luc and Elise Chavez, Johnny and Janice Romero and their children, Allison, John-Michael, Krista and Jessica Romero, Ruth and Frank Chavez, Michael Chavez and Ken Broussard; brother, Ernest Martinez and wife, Mary Lou; sister, Ramona Lucero; special niece Virginia Vigil; and many nieces and nephews. "Nanney" spent many years loving and taking care of all of the children in the Chavez family. This included many hours of playing dolls with Janice and trying to take the blame for all of Craig's mishaps. The family would like to thank Sombrillo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their special care of Carmen. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Lucario Chavez, John-Michael Romero, Craig A. Chavez, Gary Sanchez, Michael Van Sickler, Tyler Martin, and Adrian Martinez.
