Phyllis Dorothea Foss, 88, a resident of New Mexico for the past 27 years, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007. Phyllis was born February 13, 1919 the daughter of Clarence Wardwell and Mary Agnes Allen Foss in West Lynn, MA. She was a graduate of Tufts University. Phyllis was a Third Order Lay Carmelite, also known as Mary Therese Foss. She had also been a pilot. After retirement in 1985 from the Office of the Field Solicitor in Window Rock, AZ as a U.S. Department of the Interior employee, she resided for many years in Rio Rancho, NM, where she founded the West Mesa Branch of the American Association of University Women and the Rio Rancho Garden Club. Phyllis is survived by one brother, Chester A. Foss of Falmouth Foreside, ME; three nephews, George Foss and wife, Anne of Queenstown, MD, Lawrence Foss and wife, Kassie of Chatham, MA, and Allen Foss of Cumberland Center, MA. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover, MA.
