MARY COVERT KERR On April Fool's Day, 1922, Mary Covert Kerr was born in the Crescent Cove farming community near Vernon, TX to parents Emma Lou Covert Kerr and Foster Finley Kerr. She left her earthly life and was born into eternal life on March 26, 2007. In her last month and in failing health, she continued to love life's opportunities and challenges. She ended each phone call as well as earthly life with these words, "Love each other!" Mary received her BA from West Texas State at age 19 and her MA from Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. In Albuquerque she taught at Montgomery and A. Montoya elementary schools. It was in a college English class that she met her life's love, Jarold W. (Jerry) Evans. They were married in 1941 in Vernon, TX and were blessed to celebrate 56 wedding anniversaries prior to his death on March 5, 1998. They were long time members of Central United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship class, and Mary also belonged to United Methodist Women. Mary is survived by her sister, Virginia Anabel Hughes Dockery and husband, Kenneth, of Quanah, TX; two children: daughter Sheribeth Evans James and husband, BJ, of Albuquerque; son, Gary William Evans and wife, Marilyn of Tijeras, NM; three adored grandchildren and their children: Heather Blakeman and her daughter, Alyssa, of Albuquerque; Lt.
