Irene E. Wentzel Pride Baca, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983 and the first president of the La Vida Llena Residence Association, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at La Vida Llena. She is survived by her daughter, Lois Volchansky and husband, Paul R. of Albuquerque; grandson, Joshua Downs and wife, Kyung-Eun Kim of Washington; granddaughter, Jessica Downs and husband, David Stull, of Ohio; great-granddaughters, Madeline and Emily Stull of Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charles Pride; and her husband of 7 years, August Baca; daughter, Ruth Downs; brothers, Milton Wentzel and wife, Corrine, Oscar Wentzel and wife, Katherine, Alpheus Wentzel, and Harold Wentzel and wife, Gladys. The daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor Wentzel, Irene was born on May 24, 1913 in Winneconne, WI. She was the first woman bank officer in the Fox River Valley of Wisconsin and was a member of the Eastern Star. During her teenage years, Irene played piano in a dance band. Later, she became recognized as a gifted musician who generously shared her talents with others in giving organ concerts and playing for Vespers and other ceremonies at La Vida Llena. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
