Obituary for FRANKLIN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday March 21, 2007

Bradford J. Franklin, 51 was called home to the Lord on March 17, 2007. Our beloved father, son, brother and friend was born in Watertown, NY and came to live in Albuquerque when his father was stationed at Kirtland when it was an Army Post. He attended Highland High School and enlisted into the Army in 1972. He retired out of Fort Gordon, GA and recently moved back to Albuquerque to be closer to his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Lilly Chiyoko Okabe Schnell of Tijeras NM; his loving son, Raymond John Franklin of Sacramento CA; loving sisters, Ruth Franklin Anglin and her husband, Perry Anglin of Tijeras NM, and Sharon Franklin Heflin and her husband, Lance Heflin of Warrensburg MO; nephew, Thomas Ryan Reynolds of Anchorage, AK; niece, Ashley Reynolds Zamora and her husband, Alfonso Zamora of Albuquerque; niece, Whitney Morgan Heflin of Warrensburg, MO; and niece, Fallon Nicole Heflin of Warrensburg MO; Michael and Susan Shealy of Augusta, GA; as well as many more dear family and friends in Texas, Georgia, and California. Brad traveled the world through his career with the United States Army and was a veteran of Desert Storm with the 1st Calvary Division. He was described as "One of the most highly motivated NCOs I've had the pleasure to serve with. His professionalism both technically and tactically were well above his pay grade. He could be counted on to make things happen and demonstrated that no job was to difficult to handle." His friends and family will miss the laughter he often brought to our hearts. His practical jokes and sometimes "warped" sense of humor will be remembered by many. He was a rock that many leaned upon as he always had a lending hand to give and a ready ear to listen. When he passed he had a genuine love of Christ that was a witness for all. His family thanks all that have helped during this grievous loss, his time was short but we're blessed with the time the Lord let us borrow him. Graveside service is set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 22, 2007 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Aspen Funeral Alternatives. In lieu of flowers, and because he was born to be a soldier, memorial contributions may be made to any Veterans organization in the name of Bradford J. Franklin.
