Franklin Sanchez, 47, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Albuquerque, October 15, 1959. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine, his loving parents, Clem and Rosemary Sanchez, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pedro and Cecilia Sanchez; his maternal grandparents, Ignacio and Josefita Griego and uncles, Bobby, Orlando, and Jerry Griego. Franklin attended West Mesa High School. He worked for his dad at Sabroso Foods. Franklin loved people. He had a unique talent for making friends, whether at the Cancer Center, at the video stores, at the restaurants, or at gas stations. He not only knew his neighbors, but he knew everyone else's neighbors. He loved to talk and would always start a conversation with anyone who would listen. He had a great sense of humor until the very end. He loved movies and was known on a first name basis at several video stores throughout Albuquerque. He was very proud of his huge collection of movies and DVDs. Franklin also loved to build model cars and trucks. He was an amateur artist and loved to draw and he was very good at it. He loved to go to Santa Ana Casino. He loved music and his favorite artists were Sade and Selena. He was very good with his hands and could assemble anything. He really loved his mom's homemade cooking. His greatest joy was driving his truck. As long as he could still drive, he was happy. He drove it to the very last. The family wishes to thank his caregivers; Rita Andrews, Frances Griego, Richard Griego, Agnes Perez, and Josie Gandarilla, who lovingly and unselfishly cared for him until the very end. A special thanks to the UNM Cancer Center, especially Dr. Bibb, and Dr. Libby. We would also like to thank the Vista Care Hospice providers, especially Judy and Debra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 550 Atrisco Dr. SW, Albuquerque with Father Gino officiating. The Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW, where friends and family may visit two hours prior to Rosary. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
