Obituary for CLAXTON

W.O. (Bill) Claxton, a long time resident of Albuquerque went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2007. He is survived by one daughter, Ann Horning , two grandchildren, Mark Horning and wife Misty and Barbara Spencer and husband Alan, four great-grandchildren, Kristen Horning, Maya Spencer, Emily Spencer, and Ashley Westcott all of Albuquerque. Four sisters Lerline Duncan, Dulcie St. Pierre, Ruth Maxwell, and LaVern Mooty all of Abilene, Texas. He was born Jan. 13, 1920 in Jones County Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Stevens, his father Hughie Claxton, two brothers Lonnie and Charles Claxton and 2 sisters Frances Varnadore and Juanita Sartor. Mr. Claxton worked for Stevens, Mallory, Pearl and Campbell Architects as their Lead Architectural Inspector from 1962 until he retired in 1992. He was a vital participant in the major growth of Albuquerque and Mew Mexico. Over the years he has been very active in the racing and showing of quarter horses as well as breeding them. Mr. Claxton took his 50 years of construction experience and wrote a book to help others who are interested in this field to learn from his experience. Unfortunately he did not get to see the final product because the book is scheduled for release the middle of this month. Visitation will be held from 3p.m.-7p.m. on Wednesday evening at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Funeral services will be in his hometown of Abilene, TX. on Saturday March 10.
