Maria A. Marquez, age 86, formerly of Las Cruces, NM, and now of Albuquerque, NM, joined our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 3, 2007. She was a member of the St. Genevieve's Catholic Church in Las Cruces, where she was a long time member of the St. Genevieve's Catholic Choir. She was very active with the Munson Senior Citizen Center. Maria was well known for her beautiful singing voice and when it came to dancing she was light on her feet. She never missed an opportunity to sing and dance. She was a fun loving person and she always brought smiles to the people around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Maria in 1979; her parents, Cleofas Alvidrez and Micaela Gandara Alvidrez; two sisters, Juanita Gonzales and Otelia Fino. She is survived by her three children, Arturo and his wife, Cathy of Albuquerque, Alicia Contreras and her husband, Luis, and George both of Orange, California; seven loving grandchildren and many loving great and great-great grandchildren; two loving brothers, Rodolfo and Jose Inez Alvidrez both of Mexico. Maria is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church in Las Cruces, NM, beginning with a viewing on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with celebrant Father Juan Moreno. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers will be Enrique Alvidrez, Henry Lopez, Damian Aragon, Luis Carlos Contreras, John Welch, and Jaime Contreras. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
