Irene A. Kobiela, passed peacefully at home on Friday, March 2, 2007. Born March 6, 1916 in Chicago, IL, she moved to Albuquerque with her parents, Stanley and Marianne Kobiela in 1917. Irene was named president of the Forerunners Retirees Organization of Public Service Company of New Mexico. She retired in 1983 after 31 years that went back to the days of Albuquerque Gas & Electric when she counted the utilities monies by hand. When she retired she was the magnetic tape librarian. Irene, a 1933 graduate of Albuquerque High School also attended Western School for Private Secretaries. Irene never married and dedicated a large portion of her life to spending time with her brother, Edward or helping other people. She helped family, friends, and organizations such as Animal Humane Society and Little Brothers of Good Shepherd. Irene is survived by her cousin, Florence Kobiela; and her loving dog, "Jesse." Memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place SE.
