Obituary for WALLACE

Joycelyn Carmena Wallace died suddenly at home on February 24, 2007. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Roger L. "Bud" Wallace; her brother, Allan Carmena (Glenna) of Fort Worth, TX, and sisters, Vera Bisso of New Orleans, LA, and Pat (Robert Holt) of Plantersville, TX; children, Jack Wallace (Joyce) of Charlotte, VT and Georgia (Dennis Helmich) of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Will Hagedorn and Meg Wallace of Charlotte, VT, and Charlie, Jim, and Laura Helmich of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Allan and Vera Bernard Carmena, and her sister, Sue Hamner. Joycelyn was born on November 17, 1933 in Houston, TX. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and worked for Humble Oil Co. In Houston, she met and married Bud. They followed his career to Chicago, IL, Cleveland, OH, and Albuquerque, where they spent the last 22 years. Joycelyn donated her time to the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation, the New Mexico Commission for the Blind and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Guild. She loved antiques, tennis and a good laugh, but her greatest love was her family. Those who knew her will miss her wit and warmth. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church, 5901 St. Joseph's Dr. NW.
