Obituary for MEYER

Charles M., 83, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007, following a lengthly illness. He was born in Bogota, New Jersey, in 1923, to Charles and Frances Meyer. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII and came to New Mexico after the war. He moved to Socorro in 1957 and remained there until his death. He worked for many years at the White Sands Missile Range and retired at age 67. He was an accomplished musician as well as an avid fisherman and golfer who loved the outdoors. A loving father and husband, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy B. Meyer; his sister Margaret Lake; his brother Roy Meyer; sons Carl Meyer, Mark Meyer, David Meyer and wife Pam; granddaughter Cristin Smith and husband Trevor; grandsons Adam Meyer and wife Christi; Daniel Meyer and wife Jessica; and Darren Meyer; and great-grandson Daemien. Mr. Meyer is also survived by a large extended family, including several brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial for Mr. Meyer will be held at the First Baptist Church, 203 Spring St. SW in Socorro on Tuesday, February 13th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Socorro General Hospital Foundation, Healing Garden Fund, P.O.
