Horst Heinz Seeliger, a World War II veteran, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the age of 86. Horst was born in Breslau, Germany on June 3, 1920. After WWII he moved from Germany to the United States. He and his wife, Frieda, lived in New York City for thirty-eight years before moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1990. A remarkable and charming man Horst served as a soldier for 10 years and spent 7 of those years in a concentration camp in Siberia, Russia. He was a man with determination and fortitude that defined his character. He loved music and his appreciation and knowledge for opera and classical music was remarkable. Well traveled Horst had an unusual command of the world's geography and was fluent in several languages. He will be dearly missed by all of us who were privileged to know him and will miss his conversations about his life and the world. But he will be most missed by his family who loved him so much and were able to share in his spirited life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frieda. He is survived by his two sons, Michael H. Seeliger and Stephen H. Seeliger, their wives, Elizabeth Ann and Catherine Seeliger; and five grandchildren, Shawn, Henry, Jack, Annabelle, and Juliette. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight; I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. French Mortuary, Inc. 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
