Leona A. McDaniel died on Saturday, February 3, 2007. She was born on January 24, 1912, to parents, William Marks and Ida Casebolt, in St. Joseph's, MO. Leona moved to Albuquerque in 1947, where she was a kindergarten teacher, and the Executive Director of Christine Kent Day Nursery, until she retired in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McDaniel. Leona is survived by her son, Jeffery McDaniel and wife, Karen of Albuquerque; her grandchildren, Thomas McDaniel and wife, Tammy of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Bradley McDaniel of Phoenix, AZ; and her great-grandchildren, Sara McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, and Samuel McDaniel. A private Service was held for members of her immediate family. Memorial contributions are requested to be made to United Way Central-New Mexico location. Services are under care of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. 505-842-8800.
