Carl A. Denney, 85, died unexpectedly February 2, 2007. His family was by his side as he left this world for eternal life with his heavenly Father. He was born December 13, 1921, in Wareagle, AR, and was preceded in death by his sons, Craig Denney and Kevin Denney; his parents, James D. and Velma Denney; as well as his brother, Charles Denney; and brother-in-law, James Tufts. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenna Maye Denney. He leaves one son, Douglas Denney and his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Claudia Powell and her husband, Jay, of Tucson, AZ; and three great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Virginia Tufts of St. Louis, MO; and sister-in-law, Carol Denney, of Amarillo, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Carl served in the Signal Corps in Europe during World War II. He was working for Western Electric Co. in Wichita, KS, when he married his high school sweetheart in 1946. In 1953 he received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Arkansas and was employed by Sandia National Lab in Albuquerque, NM, until his retirement in 1987. He was a fine photographer and enjoyed making furniture as a hobby and his family are proud owners of his talented craftsmanship. He especially looked forward to weekly Friday morning breakfasts with a great group of fellow Sandia Lab retirees. He was loved beyond measure and was a devoted, loyal, trusted friend and companion to his wife and family and those who knew him well. Carl will always live on in our thoughts, hearts, and memories. He was a member of Central Methodist Church. God bless his sweet soul as he receives his heavenly reward. He will be sorely missed!
