Obituary for TORRES

Rev. Deacon H. Esequiel Torres, age 84, went with the Lord, Tuesday, January 30, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Felicia Torres; three sons, Michael, Herman, and Leroy Torres; one daughter, Nancy Trujillo; four stepchildren, Sandy Martinez, Diane Griego, Kelvin, and Allen Medina; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the Okinawa Invasion as a Corporal. He was a rancher and farmer in Arroyo Seco in Taos County. He lived and worked in Albuquerque; retired from the Board of Education in 1986; and was Ordained as a Deacon in 1987, serving at St. Therese Parish for over 20 years. He was a life time member of the Hermanos Penitentes and of the SNM De MP. Visitations will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 8:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Antonio Torres, Francisco Torres, Joseph Martinez, Steven Martinez, Gabriel Jaramillo, Ben Barela. Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Santa Fe Post Honor Guard.
