Obituary for POWELL-MAY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 31, 2006

Carol D. Powell May, age 42, passed away at Lovelace Westside, Sunday, December 24, 2006. She was born October 14, 1964 in Missouri, but did not find her true parents until she was 16, Tom and Toni Watson. With their love and care and that of her future husband, Gregory Powell, she was able to make a new life for herself. Carol married Gregory and they had two beautiful daughters together. Sadness struck the family when Gregory died in October of 1996. Carol and her daughters found comfort in friends and family during this time. She found a partner for life again when Carol re-married in 1999 to Edward L. May II. She completed a lifelong dream with a Bachelor of Science in Signed Language Interpreting from the University of New Mexico, graduating magna cum laude. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Carol always wanted to help others, and her generosity of spirit and outgoing nature were a blessing to many. She began her fight with breast cancer in October of 2005 and it ended after 2 months of determination. She is survived by her husband, Ed May; daughters, Megan, Casey, and Victoria; parents, Tom and Toni Watson; and too many friends and loving family members to name. Carol's Memorial Service will be held January 6, 2007 2:00 p.m. Valley Christian Church 2850 Gun Club Rd. SW Albuquerque, NM 87105 (505) 877-5500 Carol requested before her death, that only the signed language interpreter wear black to the Memorial Service.
