Obituary for MARTINEZ

Antonio "Tony-Honey" Martinez, 91, took his Sentimental journey Christmas Eve. He is survived by his daughter, Eileen Rodriguez and husband, Felipe. "Honey" was also survived by 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mabel Martinez; and his daughter, Helen and husband, Carlos Chavez. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mr. Martinez served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany. Tony was a lifetime member of the VFW George O Breece Post 401. He retired from Albuquerque Public Schools in 1981. Rosary will be recited Friday, December 29, 2006, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 30, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Arlo and Eric Lujan, Jesus and Ernesto Rodriguez, Andy Sandoval and Mark Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernie and Felipe Rodriguez, Jr., Jerry Lujan, and Johnny Mitchell.
