Obituary for LANE

John Bryce Lane, 75, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2006. He was born on October 3, 1931 in Mountainair, NM. Mr. Lane graduated from Mountainair High School and entered the University of New Mexico in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, part of the time as a radar technician at a nuclear storage facility. After completing military service he graduated from UNM with degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. Mr. Lane was employed by Gulton Data Systems from 1958 to 1991, where he helped design test equipment to be used in nuclear weapons, installed and tested control systems for the California water aqueduct system, and worked on equipment used to monitor systems in the space shuttle, including solid rocket boosters and the external tank. He had considerable interest and talent in music, and served as choir director for five years at Asbury Methodist Church in Albuquerque. After his retirement from the Gulton Corporation, Mr. Lane became interested in genealogy and traced his family history extensively. He is survived by two brothers, Keith A. Lane of Syracuse, NY and Robert E. Lane of Hobbs, NM; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank O. Lane Sr.; and brothers, Frank O. Lane Jr. and James W. Lane. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
