Obituary for HINES

Carl Edward Hines, 45, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on December 16, 2006, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family. He faced his illness with great courage, great strength, hope and great dignity. Carl studied art, design, and architecture at UNM. He was an artist, designer, and photographer. He embraced life fully. He was always creating something new and colorful. Carl was an optimistic person and was always kind and generous to his family and friends. He loved good food and knew how to prepare it. He was especially fond of baking birthday cakes for the children of his friends. Carl received emails and calls from many of his friends from around the country. One of his favorite sayings was "It's all good". Carl loved his pets and enjoyed the mountains of NM, the outdoors and hunting and fishing. Carl enjoyed watching the Isotopes play and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Carl believed in Jesus Christ. He is survived by his parents, James and Mary Hines of Albuquerque; his girlfriend, Lisa Smith; sister, Victoria Hines of Cuba, NM; brothers, James Hines, Jr. and wife Qi of Suzhou, China, William Hines of Colorado Springs; nieces, Andrea Hines, Alix Hines, Michelle Hines, and Kiara Hines. Other members of his family include an uncle, Joe Hines and wife, Vita of Huntington Beach, CA; four cousins, Tamara, Shawna, Matthew, and Jared of California and Georgia. Memorial services are pending and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the NM Cancer Center Foundation, 4901 Lang Avenue NE, 87109.
