Obituary for GOODRICH

Estelle Henson Goodrich, 82, died peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Samuel V. Goodrich of Albuquerque; three sons, Sam Goodrich and wife, Kathie of Denton, TX, Tony Goodrich, and Kevin Goodrich of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Kim Glasgow and husband, Tim of Carrollton, TX, Sami Hobbs, and husband, Kevin of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Kendall Glasgow of Carrollton, TX and Samuel Stone, Brooke, and Autumn Hobbs of Frisco, TX; sisters, Laverne Rison of Albuquerque, Pat Underwood and husband, Bill of Fort Worth, TX and Jonette Ballmer of Clearwater, FL; and many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and loving caregivers at Laurel Heights Healthcare and Hospice of the Sandias. Estelle was preceded in death by her sister, Lenore Henson; and brother, William Henson. She was born on March 26, 1924 in Petrolia, TX, the daughter of William Bryan Henson and Della Worley Henson. Estelle grew up throughout the Southwest region of the United States. She and her four sisters and one brother traveled from Texas to Arkansas to Oklahoma and New Mexico, wherever their father could find work during the Great Depression. In 1944 she met the love of her life, Samuel V. Goodrich, in Roswell, NM and they were married on September 15, 1945 in Alamagordo, NM. Estelle and Sam, a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, traveled the world with their three sons and lived in Rome, NY, Ogden, UT, Misawa, Japan, Clovis, NM, Greenville, SC, Biloxi, MS, and Chateauroux and Laon, France. She and Sam came to Albuquerque in 1965 when Sam was stationed at Kirtland AFB and retired in 1971. Estelle and Sam enjoyed their retirement together where she pursued her passions of traveling, cooking, bowling, bridge, walking, and doting on her grandkids. She was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment of cremated remains will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
