Obituary for BURNS

Oscar C. Burns, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2006. Oscar was born February 1, 1917 in Portsmouth, OH. He was married to the former Ollie Mae Brown, his wife of 50 years. Together, they raised four boys and one girl. Four of those children later became licensed ministers. Oscar C. Burns was a well-known and respected automotive technician in the city of Portsmouth, OH. Oscar, a life-long resident of the State of Ohio, moved to Rio Rancho in October of 2005 to be near family. He was a faithful member of the Living Word Church in Rio Rancho. For the twenty years immediately preceding his retirement, he served as the Superintendent of the Portsmouth City Water Department. Oscar faithfully served his country in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. His beloved wife, Ollie preceded him in death in 1990. Oscar C. Burns is the father of The Rev. Jerry L. Burns, Senior Pastor of the Living Word Church of Rio Rancho. Surviving Oscar are: sons, Rev. David R. Burns of Ehrenberg, AZ, Cecil E. Burns of Denver. CO, Rev. Jerry L. Burns of Rio Rancho, Rev. Dennis J. Burns of Bellflower, CA; and daughter, Karen E. Parker of Portsmouth, OH. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2006 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Living Word Church, 1201 Golf Course Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Jerry Burns officiating.
