Obituary for DUGAN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday December 13, 2006

Daniel Dugan, Air Force alumnus; baron of ballistic aircraft; savorer of squadron camaraderie. Ambassador of the Albuchemist; disseminator of deceased chemist's conjecture. Fleet captain of bedridden classic cars and kit airplanes; luminary of luminaries. Shepherd of contumacious canines; wrangler of pot-bellied pigs; allegiant husband, father and friend. Dan never met a hot dog he didn't like or a Schlitz beer beyond savoring. A dexterous dis-assembler, Dan leaves to cherish in his memory a bundle of backlogged projects and inventions most assuredly imperceptible to the lay man. He was a man with an uncommon mastery of Science and Language- talented in so many ways. Brilliant mind, quick wit, and selfless heart. The bells on the Albuchemist door have rung for the final time. Marie Curie will need to find a new place to park. Though too soon for a final voyage- it is a great day for flying. Pre-checks complete, flight plan filed, no cloud on the horizon. Your mission- Phoenix Post-flight. You've been cleared for takeoff, ascend well. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria NE. A celebration of Dan's life to follow at the Dugan home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the Dugan family to Dan's Boy Scouts- Troop 436- the only Scout troop for disabled adults in New Mexico. Arrangements by French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500
