Rita Griego, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2006. She was born March 9, 1937, in Puerto De Luna, NM. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Max Griego; her father, Julian Lopez; and her brothers, Andrew Lopez, Bonifacio Lopez; and her beloved brother-in-law, Michael Doyon. She is survived by her children, David Griego and wife, Annie, Michael Griego and wife, Frances, Steven Griego, Isabelle Zamora, Karen and Kristofer Kite; and her four adoring grandchildren, Maria, Preston, Cameron, and Joshua. Rita is also survived by her mother, Teofila Lopez; her sisters, Lorraine Branch and husband, Dennis, Dolores Padilla and husband, Serafin, and Amelia Doyon; and her brothers, Horacio Lopez and wife, Sandra, Joe Lopez and wife, Lydia, Dan Lopez and wife, Linda, Robert Lopez, Chris Lopez and wife, Cathy, and George Lopez and wife, Deborah; along with Viola Lopez, Fedelina Lopez; and many nieces and nephews. Rita was a lifelong Member of the Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, and devoted mother, and grandmother and will be missed dearly. We would like to give a special thank you to all the aunt, uncles and nieces, who gave their time and comfort during the challenging times of Mom's illness. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12,500 Carmel NE. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
