Obituary for HERNANDEZ

Hortencia Z. Hernandez, 90, longtime resident of Las Cruces, died peacefully on November 19, 2006 at Laurel Heights Facility in Albuquerque. Her family wrote that she "went to be with the Lord". Hortencia was born on February 8, 1916 in Las Cruces, NM. Mrs. Hernandez was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her only daughter, Yolanda Viramontes; grandchildren, Michael Viramontes and wife, Sleida, Vicki Viramontes-LaFree and husband, Gary, Chris Viramontes and wife, Amy, and Joseph Viramontes and wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Adam, Erin, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Alexandra, Bailey, and Alaina; a great-great-grandchild, Noah; and several nephews and nieces. She worked many years as a school cafeteria supervisor and was a homemaker who loved her garden, cooking, and animals. Her family wrote: "She was a loving, kind, and gentle person, who devoted her life to her family and the Lord. She was a beloved friend to many. She never missed an opportunity to share with everyone the love and pride she felt for her daughter and grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness lives on in the lives of all she loved. She will live in our hearts forever". A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2006 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.
