Obituary for CHAVEZ

Maria Del Carmen "Cocoy", born October 31, 1949, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Esperanza Reyna; brother, Fernando Reyna; mother-in-law, Mary D. Chavez and sister-in-law, Laura Trujillo. She is survived by her loving husband Charles D. Chavez; sons, Charles D. Chavez II and Bernadette A. Moya, Candelario F. Chavez and Charmaine I. Gonzalez; stepchildren, Raymond, Roberta, Patricia, Andrew, Christopher and Angela; father-in-law, Candelario G. Chavez; sisters; Maria Louisa, Goya, Vicky and Lilly Reyna; brother-in-law, Manuel D. Chavez and Cindy Trujillo; grandchildren, Ariel, Charlene, Cheyanne, Charles III, and Shantel. Cocoy was employed by The University of New Mexico for 22 Years. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Cocoy was famous for her ability to feed all who came to enjoy her great cooking, especially her famous tamales. Cremation has taken place and a Rosary will be recited on Friday December 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. A visitation will be held prior to the Rosary from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. A reception will follow the Mass at the American Legion Post #69, located at 9000 4th Street NW. Gabaldon Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
