Obituary for BESTGEN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday November 28, 2006

WALTER E. Col. Walter E. Bestgen, a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2006. A native of Wichita, KS, Walter served his country as a P-38 pilot in North Africa. After the war, he returned home and married the spirited Viola Ageter. In their 63 years of marriage, Walter and Viola shared their love of adventure, travel and camping with their family. Nothing made him happier than a long day of motorcycling or waterskiing followed by a night of talking and joking around the campfire. Walter considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family, including his three children and six grandchildren. He always had the time and patience to listen to any real or perceived crisis, and would dispense the perfect hug or advice for any occasion. He leaves us a legacy of laughter, love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Heritage Hospice, 1700 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
