Hazel Secor, a resident of Rio Rancho, quietly passed away November 13, 2006 surrounded by her family. The eldest child of Mernie and Elizabeth Brown, she was raised and educated in Michigan. She graduated from Alma College and received a Masters of Education from the University of Michigan. An active church member, she served on the alter guild for many years and volunteered weekly with the youth group. Hazel gave tirelessly of her time as a former Girl Scout leader, library volunteer, Band Mom and active member of the St. Joseph's West Mesa auxiliary for over 17 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harvey E. Secor; her parents; one sister, Marilyn; and two brothers, Frederick and William. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Dawn Jaramillo, Midland, TX; son, Harvey Secor and wife, Kathy Franchini, Albuquerque, NM; and five beloved grandchildren, Mario, Joshua, Devin, Allie, and Giovanna. one uncle, Nelson Abernethy of Michigan; one brother, Thomas Brown and wife, Bonnie, Troy, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Service will be held Saturday November 18, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church located at 2903 19th Ave. in Rio Rancho with the Reverend Pete Falk officiating.
