Obituary for ROMERO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday November 15, 2006

George Romero, 58, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to the Lord after a short illness. George was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. George retired from the city of Albuquerque in 1994 after 25 years of outstanding service. After his retirement his kids bought him a welder which he always wanted to do, but because of his dedication to helping his kids and grandkids he stayed so busy with projects for them that he never took the welder out of the box. His kids called him "Snyder" because he had a key to all of their houses and their vehicles, which he used often in getting all kinds of projects done for them. His wife and family were truly his life. George was preceded in death by his parents, Juan A. Romero and Maria Sandoval. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Prescilla Tarin-Romero; his children, Jodilynn Romero, Trish Cordova, Georgenne Truesdell and her husband, Charles, Marc Romero and his wife, Lynda, Lydia, Angelica, and his prince, E. Jon Romero; one grandson on the way; six loving grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; sisters, Lourdes Sedillo, Susan Christian and her husband, Bill and Christina Olinger and her husband, Jessie; brothers, Gabe and his wife, Sylvia, Robert and his wife, Elfie, and Delfin and his wife, Dolores. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff at Lovelace. May their kindness, diligence, and dedication be returned ten-fold. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta beginning with a visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Valencia Catholic Cemetery.
