Obituary for JONES

Richard Lee Jones, age 72, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 8, 2006. He was born in Toledo, OH to Chester and Irene Jones. Richard had worked for General Mills, in Toledo, where he proudly created and implemented a fire brigade program. While in Ohio, he was an accomplished golfer and won many trophies. In 1966, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Although he was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he never complained about his condition, maintained a great sense of humor, and was always a positive influence on everyone around him. His favorite remark was always "God loves you, and so do I." In 1977, he and his family moved to Phoenix, for the health benefits of a warmer climate. In 1994, his son moved him to Albuquerque, to be close and provide better care for him. Richard is survived by his children, Darrick Jones and his wife, Laurel, and Tammy Thomas and her husband, Rick; grandchildren, Arron, Kevin, Adrienne and Trent; sister, Doris Martin. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Westside Chapel. Friends may visit Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
