Donald M. Skiles, 81, a resident of Elephant Butte, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2006. Don was born in Pittsburg, PA and moved to Albuquerque after serving in the South Pacific with the Navy during WWII. He retired and moved to Elephant Butte in 1988. Don was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Skiles; daughters, Donna Hugo and husband, Marshall, Debbie Johannes and husband, Francis, Resa Johnson and husband, Stan, Jo Leopold and husband, Mark; son, Kelly Buffington and wife, Diana; grandsons, Keith Johnson and wife, Jennifer, Michael Buffington and wife, Bridget, Kevin Johnson and wife, Seana; granddaughters, Briana Buffington, Maren Leopold, Stephanie and Jenna Beatley; and great-granddaughters, Abigail, and Haley Buffington. Memorial Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2006, 1:30 p.m., at Church at the Butte, 516 Hwy 195, Elephant Butte, NM, with Pastor Robert Rachulg officiating.
