Marcelina "Lena" Chavez passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 in Albuquerque at the age of 82. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Chavez; parents, Cresencio and Beatriz Lucero; three brothers, Tobias, Fidel, and Albert Lucero; three sisters, Regina Chavez, Lucinda Vallejos, and Nester Lueras. She is survived by her daughters, Stella Mascarenas and husband, Aaron, and Vivian Chavez; brother, Felix Lucero and wife, Stella; sister-in-law, Lucila Lucero; grandchildren, Chris Chavez, Estela Ulibarri and husband, William, and Cecilia Perea; great-grandchildren, Leya, Jon, Nathaniel, Antoinette, Jason, Mindy, Amanda, and Jesse; and many cousins and friends. She was also a mother and grandmother to many people. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening, September 19, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at San Jose Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Lucero, Cipriano Lucero, Tony Lueras, Daniel Mascarenas, Jon Garcia, and Jason Rhinehart. Honorary pallbearer will be Jesse Perea.
