Obituary for MORRISON

Helen Virginia Morrison, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1936, died on Friday, September 1, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Dee Dee M. Turner and husband, Philip, of Albuquerque; son, Thomas D. Morrison and wife, Marie, of Santa Fe; step-daughter, Betty E. Farnham, of Albuquerque; her grandsons, Steven Ducharme and wife, Jackie, of Austin, TX, Russell E. Turner of Albuquerque, and Bret T. Morrison of Santa Fe; granddaughters, Molly A. Morrison and Kathryn M. Morrison of Santa Fe; great-granddaughters, Mirabel Rose Ducharme and Olivia Lee Ducharme of Austin; and by beloved nieces and nephews living in Oklahoma and California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, D.T. "Red" Morrison; parents, Thomas L. and Margaret "Maggie" Gentry; and by her brothers, Thomas P., Jack E. and William J. Gentry. Helen was the Office Manager for her husband's business, D.T. Morrison, Surveyor, Inc., for many years until their retirement. She was an accomplished seamstress who delighted in sewing for her children and grandchildren; she also devoted many hours pursuing other arts and crafts activities throughout her lifetime. Helen enjoyed traveling, attending movies and outdoor concerts at the zoo, dining out, solving jigsaw and word puzzles, and helping Red build a spectacular HO gauge model railroad layout in their basement. She never missed any baseball, football or wrestling event in which her grandson, Russell, participated. Helen was an excellent cook, and the ladies of the Fantasia/Ultimate Choice Beauty Salon will fondly remember her annual holiday rum bundt cakes. She was a past member of Ada Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and had been a Cub Scout Den Mother. Helen was a wonderful, wise mother and grandmother; she was also a warm and caring friend. She had a zest for life, and she will be missed by her family and many friends. Services will be held Saturday September, 9, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
