Obituary for ADAMS

Mae Skinner Adams was born in the home of her parents, Harry and Emma McAfee Skinner in downtown Albuquerque on December 16, 1928. She attended St. Mary's and Albuquerque High Schools. While working for the Harvey House in Gallup, NM at the end of WWII, she met her future husband, Walter Adams. After their marriage, they lived in Albuquerque and Artesia, NM, and Chelsea, AL, before returning to NM in 1962. Mae was preceded in death by Walter; and infant son, Walter, Jr.; her parents; brothers, James Skinner and George Skinner; sister, Ethel Owensby; nephews, Eric Keller, Steve Skinner, Scott Skinner, Keith Winter, Kelly Winter, Richard Miller; and grandniece, Brandy Bundy; grandnephew, Sean Sanchez. She is survived by daughters, Barbara Allen and husband, Roger of Farmington, NM; Kee (Karen) Kalwara and husband, Gene of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Ginger Allen Pino and friend, Fred Armstrong; grandson, Erick Allen; great-grandsons, Brandon Pino and Alex Pino; brothers, Earl Skinner and wife, Rosie of Albuquerque, Ken Skinner and wife, Vickie of Anthem, AZ, Leonard Skinner and wife, Linda of Silver City, NM; sisters, Bertha Gallegos of Los Lunas, NM, Eleanor Miller of Anaheim, CA, Kathryn Matthews and husband, Bob of Las Vegas, NV, Janet Winter and husband, Kelly of Albuquerque, Donna Bauwer and husband, Jeff of Pagosa Springs, CO; sisters-in-law, Alyce Skinner of Albuquerque, Betty Carley of Santa Fe; brother-in-law, Jerry Owensby of Helena, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families. The family acknowledges the selfless gift of care by Ginger during her grandmother's illness, to family members, Bertha Gallegos, Betty Carley, Kee Kalwara, Janet Winter, Maureen Drexel, Earl Skinner, Brian Gallegos and Leon Vigil who gave long days and nights to be with Mae; the doctors, nurses and care-givers of Vista Care Hospice. Flowers are always appreciated or monetary donations can be given to Vista Care Hospice. Service will take place on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel.
