Mary J. Hechtl, 94, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1972, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Mary was born February 27, 1912 the daughter of William J. and Margaret T. Martin Wood in Bronx, NY. She had been an operator with the telephone company before retiring and moving to New Mexico. Mary was a member of the Meadowlark Senior Center, the New York Club, Bridge Club, and both she and her husband, Charles had been members of the Square and Round Dancers for over 30 years. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles, in 2001. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Mary on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place and her interment will be alongside her beloved husband in Vista Verde Memorial Park.
