Irene Romero, 65, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 11, 2006. Irene was born on May 13, 1941 to Nicanor and Juanita Saavedra of Albuquerque. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who taught her family about the value of hard work and staying strong. Her family will miss her warmth, compassion, and love. Mrs. Romero was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Michelle. She is survived by her husband, Anthony J. Romero; her sons, Michael and wife, Nessa Martinez, Andrew and wife, Brenda Martinez, Rodger and wife, Sara Martinez, and Paul and wife, Rita Martinez; her daughter, Cynthia and husband, Earl Davis; her sister, Mary Jo and husband, Bill Loredo; her brother, Nick and wife, Fran Saavedra; her grandchildren, Michelle, Mikie, Anthony, Melanie, Mariah, Donald K. Martinez, Andrew Jr., Drew, Noah, Shammon, Jacquelyn, Emerald, Denver, Irene, and Anna Lea; and her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Danny Jr., and Damien. She will be missed deeply by all. A memorial service will be held for Irene on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, with a reception to follow immediately after at the American Legion Post 13, located at 1201 Mountain Rd. from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family would like to welcome everyone to join them.
