Obituary for JONES

Jewel Raye Jones, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque and former longtime resident of Los Alamos, NM, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2006 surrounded by her loving family. Jewel was born in Bosque County, TX on November 19, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Weems D. Jones. She is survived by her children, David "Spike" Jones and wife, Donna, of Los Alamos, Robert Jones of Los Alamos, and Judy Jones Fuller and husband, Drew, of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Sarah, Cale, Jennifer, and Jonathan; and many family members and friends. Jewel was a homemaker and owned her own custom drapery business for 24 years in Los Alamos before she and her husband retired and moved to Albuquerque in 1986. Jewel was remarkably wise, had a gentle spirit, and fun-loving personality. She was a wonderful cook and crocheted beautiful baby blankets and afghans for her children, grandchildren and friends. The family is grateful to Karen Harring and Mary Catherine Casey of Vista Care Hospice for their care to Jewel in her final months. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 17, 2006 at French Mortuary Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE with Rev. Terry Wendt officiating.
