Obituary for CONRAD

Reba T. Conrad died at home on Monday, August 14, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Loyal Lee Conrad; her children, Anna Gillespie, Martha Conrad, and Mary Conrad and husband, Bill Wallace; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma, she moved to Albuquerque in 1999. Born in Collinsville, OK, she graduated from Poteau High School as co-valedictorian of her class in 1934 and received a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 1938. She was a reporter for the "Ligonier Leader" in Ligonier, IN, and was editor of "The Tinkerfield Takeoff" at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City before her marriage in 1943. Reba was active in the League of Women Voters, PEO Sisterhood, Girl Scouts of America, and was a docent at the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art in Tulsa, OK, and at the NM Museum of Natural History in Albuquerque. Those wishing to pay respects may stop by the Conrad family home in Albuquerque, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sat., August 19, 2006.
