Obituary for PIERCE

Jean D. Pierce, 74, passed peacefully Friday, August 4, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hot Springs, NM, and graduated from Santa Fe High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard A. Pierce, who preceded her in death. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service and was the owner of Hoffmantown Paperback Book Exchange. She loved watching Jeopardy and playing cards. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage and always reminded us that she came from Hugh O'Neil of the Bloody Hand. She is survived by her daughter, Richelle Sims and husband, Tim; special niece (who was like a daughter), Sandra Dye and husband, Scott; sons, Richard A. Pierce, Jr. and wife, Carole, and Randall M. Pierce and fiancee, Debra Mauldin; grandchildren, Sean Johnson and wife, Kris, Brook Sims and fiancee, Uri Bassan, Timmy J. Sims and fiancee, Anne Dodd, Gabrielle and Gina Pierce; and other family members. She was especially proud of her great-granddaughter, Alexandria Richelle Johnson, who was adopted from Tomsk, Siberia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Kids First Adoption Services, 8580 Cedar Place Drive, Suite 120, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at the Sims home.
