Obituary for ESQUIBEL

Brother George Esquibel, FSC, (Juan Esquibel), died peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2006 after a short illness. He was 94 years old. He is survived by two nephews, Ralph Montano and Joe Montoya; three grand-nieces; and a grand-nephew. Brother George was a Christian Brother for 77 years, having entered the order in 1929. He pronounced his final vows in 1937 and he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, in 1938. In the course of his long life he taught in schools conducted by the Christian Brothers in Franklin, LA, and Lafayette, LA, as well as Denver, CO. Since 1976 he spent all of his thirty years at St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe in charge of maintenance and repair of school desks and equipment. He was very skilled in woodwork, and taught shop at Mullen High School in Denver. A Rosary Service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the Berardinelli Family Chapel. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the St. Michael's Chapel on the College of Santa Fe campus at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006 with burial in the Christian Brothers plot in Rosario Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Michael's Scholarship Foundation.
