Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday July 19, 2006

Betty Jo Roberts, 79, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 14, 2006, surrounded by her family. Betty was born September 6, 1926, in Dalhart, TX, the youngest of eight, to the late Robert Spencer and Annis Seward Harrell. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Harrell, Willis Harrell and W.O. Harrell: and two sisters, Fern Kelly and Gerry Allison. Betty married Fred C. Roberts on February 21, 1948 in Clovis, NM. She was a wonderful homemaker, a talented seamstress, and had a knack for decorating, which was evident in their home of 58 years. She won an award from the Ladies Home Journal, "Room Makeover Contest" in 1996. Betty was a devoted member of the Netherwood Park Church of Christ for 50 years and was the church secretary for 23 of those years. She loved her church family, and God was the focus of her life. Her ultimate goal was to pass her love of God to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Fred C. Roberts; and their three daughters and families: Debbie, Dave, Alex, and Taylor Camp of Garland, TX; Cyndi, John, Steele Nash, and Madison Wells of Anaheim, CA; and Marcee, Wayne, Brandon, Chase, and Mackenzie Moss of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by two sisters, Glen Ray Thompson of Clovis, NM and Marilyn and husband, Dr. Mario DiNello of Denton, TX; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Allison of Clovis, NM; two sisters-in-law, Verna South of N. Little Rock, AR and Tootsie and husband, Swain Rodgers of Lubbock, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a "Going Home Celebration" at Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd. NE, on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Graveside Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., with Wayne Sharp officiating both Services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Netherwood Park Church of Christ, Benevolence Program, 5101 Indian School Rd. NE, 87110; Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd. NW, 87120; or the Alzheimer's Association, 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 209, 87111. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Cleveland Sharp and his staff of Lovelace for their ongoing care, concern, and wisdom over the past 15 years; Dr. Federici and Anita Ralston of the Heart Institute for their compassion and insight; Anna Sanchez and her staff at Laurel Canyon Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care after her hip surgery; and the nurses and aides of Heritage Hospice, Ann, Pam, Roberta, Virginia, and Paul, for their loving support and guidance during Mom's final days. Last but not least, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our precious church family at Netherwood for all their prayers, calls, visits, cards, and food. We love you. Fred, Debbie, Cyndi, and Marcee. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
