Bernice Lorraine Lockhart, age 91, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on July 15, 2006. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. Bernice was born on a ranch near Capitan, NM to the late, Thomas and Tennesse Weldy. As a teenager she moved to Roswell, NM. Bernice married Leo E. Lockhart in 1933. They lived in Roswell until 1953, in Artesia from 1953 to 1976 and then moved to Belen in 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Leo E. Lockhart in 1983; eight siblings; a son-in-law, Kenneth W. Tibbetts; grandson, Jimmie Lockhart; and a granddaughter, Lisa Lockhart. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Billie Tibbetts; son, Jackie D. Lockhart and wife, Vanda; daughter, Darlene Hall and husband, Dean; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at New Life Fellowship Church in Belen on New Life Way, on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 beginning with a visitation at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Tibbetts, Rance Hall, Steve Hall, Mike Tibbetts, J.J. Tibbetts, Garrett Hall and Robert Adams. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen.
