Marie L. Coburn Roark, 91, died peacefully Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at her home. She was born in Mountain Park, OK on December 31, 1914. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hubert L. Coburn and Elisha L. Roark; her mother and father, Lula and Ruben Beasley; her brother, Joseph Beasley; sister, Edith Lewis; brother, Earl F. Beasley; son-in-law, John H. Pope; and granddaughter, Colleen Pope Smith. Mrs. Roark belonged to the First Baptist Church. She was a long time member of the VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Roark was State President of the VFW Auxiliary and held many other positions in the State and National VFW Auxiliary. Her thousands of hours volunteering at the Veterans Hospital were much appreciated. She also took time to attend the activities of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Roark also volunteered at their schools. She is survived by her brother, William H. Beasley and wife, Mozell; sister, Georgia Boyd; sister-in-law, Vivian Beasley; children, Wanda Costello and husband, James, Barbara Pope, Robert Coburn and Roger Coburn and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Michael Costello and wife, Julie, John Pope and wife, Nancy, Joanna Sherwood and husband, Harry and Lorie Coburn; great-grandchildren, Marilyn and Stephanie Pope, Ashley Steven and Thomas Sherwood, Stephanie, Stacey and Joshua Costello, Leeanne and Krista Deyo and Rickey Smith; one great-great-grandson, Ethan Deyo; and many nieces and nephews. Marie, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, you will be missed and remembered always. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Michael Costello, Steven Sherwood, Thomas Sherwood, Harry Sherwood, Charles Stevens and William "Billy" Beasley.
